Anna Jewel Schluterman is a New York City based artist and photographer with a BFA in Photography and Related Media from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Her photography is heavily influenced by her upbringing in Arkansas, where her imagination ran wild amidst a quiet suburban backdrop. Since moving to New York, her work has focused on capturing quiet, intimate scenes of daily life in a dreamy, colorful light. She aims to evoke a nostalgic and visceral tone in her images through the use of color, light, and composition. She excels in portraiture, documentary, and editorial photography, where she can exercise her creative eye for subtle storytelling.
For two years, Anna Jewel held the Co-Director of Photography position for Runway27, the Fashion Institute of Technology’s student-run fashion club. Her project, If You Spray the Garden Hose, You Can Make a Rainbow, was exhibited at the Museum at FIT in 2023, and in 2024 she exhibited Looking Out the Window at Piragua Art Gallery in the Lower East Side. Her most recent project 1,251 Miles was exhibited at Knock Out Cafe in the Lower East Side and the Museum at FIT in 2025. Her photograph Ma and Pa received a “Juror’s Pick” award in the 2025 Lens Culture Portrait Awards.
